As Afghanistan is at the center of the world’s attention, China’s role in supporting the Taliban seemed to be obvious, since they were the first to recognize the Taliban as Afghanistan’s government. Taiwan’s government made strong statements aimed at China by saying, “Today, a powerful country wants to annex Taiwan through the use of force. Likewise, we fear neither death nor imprisonment. We will safeguard this country and this land,” and said to its own people, “Only by helping ourselves will willing friends have the opportunity and time to help.” Taiwan First is the only way of their survival.
