Canadian Prime Minister Downplays Book Burnings

Objectivity 2.9 | Credibility 4.0 | Relevance 3.8

A newly revealed 2019 book burning has many Canadians, except Justin Trudeau, in an uproar. An Ontario school initiated a “purification” ceremony in which it burned around 30 books of “questionable” content for “educational purposes.” The ashes from the burned books were used as fertilizer for a tree. Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau addressed the controversy by saying, “On a personal level, I would never agree to the burning of books.” The PM stressed though, that it is not for non-Indigenous people “to tell Indigenous people how they should feel or act to advance reconciliation.” However, it is precisely this woke leader’s job to tell all Canadians, no matter their ethnicity, that book burning is an unacceptable act that only advances division, not reconciliation.
