District Judge Robert Pitman blocked the Texas abortion law passed in September, but the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld it. Twice, the Court of Appeals has allowed the law to stand. The U. S. Department of Justice opposes the Texas law and will ask the Supreme Court to block it. These actions set the stage for a possible Supreme Court hearing.
