Benin Legalizes Abortion

Objectivity 3.6 | Credibility 3.5 | Relevance 4.2

Benin is the first West African country to legalize abortion. Ending the baby’s life was only permitted in cases of rape, incest, or if it endangered the life of the woman. That changed on October 20th when the nation’s lawmakers allowed women to abort the baby “if it is going to cause a material situation, moral distress, affect their education, or professional lives.”
