Colorado Drops Sex Offender Term Because It Offends Sex Offenders

Objectivity 4.0 | Credibility 4.7 | Relevance 4.8

Colorado’s Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) voted to replace the title Sex Offender with Adults Who Commit Sexual Offenses. Members of the board argued that the use of person-first language is less stigmatizing. Ironically, despite the SOMB’s decision to drop Sex Offender from its vocabulary, it cannot change its name. That decision must come from the state legislature.
