China is seeking to build a military base in Equatorial Guinea, a tiny nation on the coast of Africa that is suitable for a Chinese Navy. This strategic nation would be the most significant threat towards the U.S. from China. The U.S. has made it clear to Equatorial Guinea that potential steps involving Chinese activity there would raise national security concerns. Unfortunately, China appears to be one of Equatorial Guinea’s closest allies.
