Elon Musk’s goal for Neuralink, his brain-interface technology company, is to implant microchips in humans in 2022. Neuralink intends to have medical applications that treat issues like spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders. The chip would allow quadriplegics to control digital devices with their minds. Neuralink isn’t the only company developing this technology. A 20-person biotech firm called Synchron has obtained FDA approval and will conduct human testing before Neuralink.
