Co-founder of BLM Los Angeles and former California State University professor Melina Abdullah said Black Lives Matter will continue to support Jussie Smollett regardless of the outcome of his trial. Abdullah said members of BLM and Defund the Police movements can never believe the police over a Black man like Smollett. She also said, “policing at large is an irredeemable institution…” and “Black Lives Matter will continue to work towards the abolition of police and every unjust system.”
