The Supreme Court of the United States ruled the Texas abortion law will remain in effect but, providers can sue over the ban on most abortions. The law made Texas abortions illegal after a heartbeat is detected. Following the September passage of the Heartbeat Bill, the University of Texas compared September 2020 to September 2021 and found the first month of enactment shows a 50% decrease in abortions. SCOTUS ruling may indicate the pending outcome of the recent Mississippi case.
