Common sense prevails as Judge Sharon Gleason ruled a Christian women’s shelter does not have to admit trans-identified men. The Downtown Hope Center’s soup kitchen serves meals to everyone, but the shelter provides an overnight safe place for battered and sexually abused women. The Equal Rights Commission filed a complaint against the center when a man, who identifies as female, came to the shelter drunk and injured but was refused. It appears this was not the first attempt to stop the center from providing a safe place for women only.
