The intent of HB 1835 is to ensure children are being taught proper subject matters in class and allow the parents access to examine the materials. Missouri House Speaker Pro Tem John Wiemann (R), who put forth the bill, stated that parents around the state were concerned about what their children were learning, like Critical Race Theory. He goes on to say, “it’s important that we give our kids a complete picture of our nation’s history, but also that we provide this information in a way that is accurate and unbiased.”
