U.S. Troops in Iraq Remain at High Risk

U.S. troops in Iraq still face life-threatening danger even though the mission changed from combat to advise and assist Iraqi forces. Forces shot down two armed drones targeting Al Asad Air Base that hosts U.S. troops. Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby said the U.S. continues to see threats against their forces in Iraq and Syria by militia groups backed by Iran. The U.S. Department of Defense reported, “Forces hit the sites to ensure rockets were not launched against coalition forces.”
