Some Austin, Texas police officers are under scrutiny on alleged charges of aggravated assault from a protest in 2020. The national frenzy, prompted by the killing of George Floyd, brought protestors to the streets. The indictments were recently announced, just hours after the city leaders decided to pay $10 million to two people injured at the protests. President of the Austin Police Association says the investigation is politically motivated and said, “DA Garza ran on a platform to indict police officers and has not missed the opportunity to ruin lives and careers simply to fulfill a campaign promise.”
