Utah Governor Spencer Cox vetoed a Republican-backed bill that would ban transgender girls from participating in girls’ sports in schools. Cox said the Utah measure would invite lawsuits that would “likely bankrupt the Utah High School Athletic Association and result in millions of dollars in legal fees for local school districts.” Republican lawmakers said they would try to override the governor’s veto.
