Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was excoriated by critics for a Twitter post to the LGBTQ+ community inciting a “call to arms” in response to the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade. Many critics on social media view her statement as an incitement of insurrection and a call for violence. In reference to Chicago’s high murder rate, other critics suggest that the safety of her constituents has not been a priority.
