The World Health Organization will discuss on May 22 a new pandemic treaty in Geneva, Switzerland. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the WHO, said that the treaty is a priority because it would strengthen the organization as an authority on global health. The Biden Administration sent a proposal for the discussion that would allow the WHO to declare a national emergency and even lockdowns without the consent of the concerned state. If approved, the measure would be a fatal blow to the sovereignty of countries and a clear overreach of the WHO.
