Republican Primaries Should Alarm Democrats

Objectivity 3.8 | Credibility 4.2 | Relevance 4.6

Republican primaries turned out to be a good night for Trump-backed candidates and for the party.  Republicans flipped a congressional seat held by Democrats in a highly Hispanic district in south Texas where Mayra Flores garnered 51% of the votes.  In South Carolina’s seventh congressional district, incumbent Tom Rice, who voted to impeach Trump, was defeated by Russel Fry.  Others endorsed by Trump did well in Nevada.  Simultaneously the January 6 hearings were held, but with no discernable impact on the primaries.
