British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation on Thursday after some 50 senior lawmakers quit due to scandals surrounding his leadership ethics.  Johnson said it is “clearly the will” of the Conservative Party to choose a new leader, but he will remain until a new successor is chosen.  Deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, Justin Tomlinson, posted on Twitter, “As a party we must quickly unite and focus on what matters.  These are serious times on many fronts.”  The process of electing a new leader could take weeks or months.
