Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe Dies from Gunshot Wounds

On Friday, Japan’s international news service NHK reported that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe died.  At 11:30 am, Abe was shot in the city of Nara while delivering a campaign speech for the upcoming Upper House election.  He was transported to Nara Medical University Hospital while in cardiac arrest but could not be resuscitated, dying at 5:03pm.  The shooting has shocked the nation where gun violence is rare.
