NY Bodega Worker Who Defended Himself Faces Murder Charges

Objectivity 3.5 | Credibility 4.6 | Relevance 4.8

A bodega worker who was attacked has been accused of murder after killing a man in self-defense.  Austin Simon, 35, attacked Jose Alba, 51, behind the counter of the bodega where Alba worked, but Alba managed to stab Simon with a small knife.  Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged Alba with second-degree murder.  New York lawmakers wrote in a letter to Bragg, “The fact that you are even prosecuting Mr. Alba reveals how your perverse sense of justice not only protects violent criminals, but actively seeks to destroy the lives of crime victims.”
