Colombia’s New President to Reestablish Relations With Venezuela

Colombia’s new socialist president Gustavo Petro is starting diplomatic and trade relations with Venezuela’s communist dictator Nicolás Maduro. Petro, who is a former member of a Marxist guerilla group, promised during his campaign that he would renew diplomatic relations with Venezuela. Petro has reportedly begun preparations to officially reopen the Colombian-Venezuelan border despite Maduro’s close relationship with Colombian terrorist organizations that are causing havoc in Colombia.
