Liz Truss has been elected the U.K.’s new prime minister, Britain’s Convservative Party has announced. Truss, who has been Britain’s Foreign Secretary, beat former Treasury Chief Rishi Sunak and replaces Boris Johnson who announced his resignation in July.  Truss faces a number of issues as she takes office including soaring energy prices and worker’s strike demanding higher pay in the face of more than 10% inflation. On the international stage Truss will have to contend with the aftermath of Brexit and Russia’s war with Ukraine.
