Democrats Contemplate Adding Gay Marriage to Government Funding Bill

As Congress reconvenes from its August recess and with the funding for the government expiring September 30th, some senior Senate Democrats are contemplating including same-sex marriage protection as part of a government funding bill. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said before the recess,”We will have a vote on marriage equality.  Not giving you a timetable. We’ll come back in September….” At least ten Senate Republicans are expected to vote in favor of any gay marriage legislation.
