The European Union is under pressure to develop a response plan if China were to invade Taiwan.  Pascal Lamy, two-time World Trade Organization director general said, “…tensions over Taiwan would dwarf all other geopolitical crises and dominate international life for the times to come.”  Lamy continued, “I think the US will embark on very severe sanctions vis-a-vis China. Will we adopt the same stance?”  Sources have said that US officials have been urging the EU to view Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a foreshadowing of a future China-Taiwan conflict.
