An Iowa school district recently approved a policy allowing some staff members to carry guns on campus. Since the horrific mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Cherokee is the second school district in Iowa whose policy allows firearms to be carried by teachers and other staff onsite. Cherokee Schools Superintendent Kim Lingenfelter stated, “No one wants guns in school, but we want bad guys with a gun even less.” Monthly training sessions are required by the armed staff members if they wish to continue carrying on campus.
