Pediatricians Plead for State of Emergency Over Surge of RSV Cases

Pediatricians are requesting President Biden to declare a health emergency in light of an “alarming surge” of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants countrywide.  “We need emergency funding support and flexibilities along the same lines of what was provided to respond to COVID surges,” a letter written by The Children’s Hospital Association and American Academy of Pediatrics to the White House reads.  Even though hospitals see a common wave of RSV cases during the fall months, this year they’ve encountered “unprecedented levels” of RSV and flu patients.
