The Dutch government is planning to close around 3,000 farms near areas regarded as environmentally sensitive to comply with EU climate regulations. The Netherlands stated that it would make a one-time offer to large nitrogen-emitting farms to reduce pollution. However, if most farmers reject the initial offer, the Dutch government announced that it would appropriate the land.
