Non-binary Sam Brinton has been fired by the Department of Energy following two incidents of luggage theft. Brinton was appointed as the deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste for the Biden Administration in June. According to a statement from a spokesperson for the DOE, “Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters.” He was caught on surveillance cameras stealing a bag from the baggage claim area in Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport in July. In September he was charged with stealing a suitcase from a Minneapolis airport.
