$1.7 Trillion Omnibus Bill Passes in the House

Objectivity 4.2 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.9

On Friday the House passed the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill by a vote of 225-201-1; nine Republicans voted in favor of the bill.  President Joe Biden will sign the bill into law before midnight on Friday averting a government shutdown.  Legislators who criticized the bill opposed the $45 billion in aid to Ukraine, adding to the $66 billion of taxpayers’ money already approved for Ukraine aid.  The 31 House conservatives who oppose it argue that the package keeps the status quo in place in D.C. by spending money that the country does not have, while the nation’s debt stands at over $31 trillion.
