Chinese President Xi Jinping’s government has announced that it is easing restrictions on travel both in and out of the country. On the positive side, it could be an economic boon to the international tourist business especially with the Lunar New Year celebration in late January. However, it also represents a real danger as COVID-19 infections have surged in China and those traveling outside the country could spread the disease. Japan, India, South Korea and Taiwan have already said that visitors from China will require testing before being allowed to enter. U.S. officials are considering similar measures.
