On Saturday former Special Forces officer turned investigative journalist Jack Murphy reported that the CIA has been using a European NATO country’s intelligence services to carry out sabotage attacks inside Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in February. His sources were unnamed former U.S. intelligence and military officials. He said in the report that no U.S. personnel are on the ground in Russia but the CIA is directing the operations. A spokesperson from the CIA denies the allegations in the report, but Murphy noted that the agency can legally deny the existence of covert operations.
