Pope Benedict XVI Passed Away at the Age of 95

Objectivity 4.7 | Credibility 4.7 | Relevance 4.6

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI died on December 31, 2022, at 95 years old.  Pope Benedict was elected to the papacy in 2005 and remembered most for his resignation in 2013, the first papal abdication since 1415, and for being the first “pope emeritus” in centuries.  After his resignation, Pope Francis was elected by the College of Cardinals as his replacement.  Benedict XVI lived at the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in Vatican City where he continued to pray and write up to his death.
