Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggested the United States should cut off travel from China to prevent a possible outbreak of a new COVID variant. “There is no reason we should allow the Chinese to do this again, to send Chinese-infected persons around the world knowingly infecting people all across the globe. [Chinese President Xi Jinping] got away with this once,” Pompeo said during an interview. The comments follow a recent outbreak of COVID cases in China and the imposition of testing mandates for Chinese travelers by several countries.
