After 11 unsuccessful votes over the past 3 days, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has offered a proposal to the House Freedom Caucus (HFC) made up of fellow GOP members who have been staunchly opposing his bid for Speaker of the House. The proposal grants three major points to the HFC: greater representation on key House Committees, policies aimed at curbing excessive Federal spending, and allowing any single member of the House to call for a motion to replace the Speaker. No new vote for Speaker is expected until next week after the HFC members have had time to examine the proposal in detail.
