Taiwan Condemns Chinese Military Exercises

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

Taiwan’s government has condemned China for conducting military exercises close to the island nation for the second time in less than a month. Taiwan’s military detected 57 Chinese aircraft and 4 naval vessels, of which 28 aircraft breached Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ). China’s military issued a statement that the exercise was in response to “provocative actions” by Taiwan and other countries. The exercise was held days after the USS Chung-Hoon, a guided-missile destroyer, transited the Taiwan Strait which China claims jurisdiction over but the U.S. says is international waters.
