Army Gen. Mark Milley who is Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff met in Poland with his Ukrainian counterpart Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi to discuss Ukraine’s military needs. The two officers have spoken frequently over the past year but this is their first face-to-face meeting. The meeting comes after the U.S. provided Patriot missile batteries and other military hardware to Ukraine, and underscores the growing involvement of the U.S. in the Russia-Ukraine war. Milley and other U.S. military officers will have further meetings with Ukrainian officials in Germany later this week.
