The U.S. government reached its debt limit while contentious discussions are taking place among House Republicans and the Biden Administration on how to avoid default. The White House has refused several times to negotiate with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to find a solution for the economic conflict. “I respectfully urge Congress to act promptly to protect the full faith and credit of the United States,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in the letter.
