EU President Travels To Ukraine To Strengthen Ties

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.8

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen traveled to Ukraine with other EU officials to discuss how to bring Ukraine closer to the EU and how the bloc can assist Ukraine’s financial, business, and energy sectors. The EU delegation will also address with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the recent corruption exposed in Ukraine’s government and discuss bringing democratic reforms more in line with EU policy.  EU members are divided on Ukrainian membership, with especially Germany and France wanting to see greater reforms before Ukrainian admission.  Ukraine’s admission would require a unanimous vote by all 27 EU member countries.
