A suspected Chinese spy balloon is being tracked by the U.S. military that allegedly floated over the Aleutian Islands and Canada before crossing over the airspace of Montana, according to three unnamed government officials. Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said in a statement, “The United States Government has detected and is tracking a high altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now.” After officials reviewed the threat profile, they considered taking it out kinetically but decided against it due to safety risks of possible field debris and the security of people on the ground.
