The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has reported that a Chinese Coast Guard ship used a “military-grade laser” against one of its ships in the disputed South China Sea which temporarily blinded the bridge crew.  The incident took place on February 6 near the Spratly Islands which lies at the southern portion of the South China Sea, an area claimed by multiple nations including China, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam.  The PCG also said that the Chinese ship made an aggressive, close approach within 150 yards of the PCG ship. The incident is similar to one which happened in August 2022.
