Thousands of flights in and out of seven German airports have been cancelled as workers strike for an increase in wages to combat inflation. An estimated 300,000 passengers have been affected by the cancelations of more than 2,300 flights at Germany’s major airports including Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg. The workers are seeking at least a 500 euro pay increase which equates to just over a 10% raise. Verdi labor union chairman Frank Werneke said that workers are willing to strike and that other sectors like garbage removal, childcare and hospitals could also see strikes.
