U.S. President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Ukraine, saying in a speech “One year later, Kyiv stands, and Ukraine stands. Democracy stands. The Americans stand with you, and the world stands with you.” Biden spent over 5 hours in Kyiv, consulting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on what comes next for Ukraine. During his visit, Biden announced an additional $500 million in U.S. aid for Ukraine in the form of additional conventional weapons but no advanced weapons. The new aid is on top of the $50 billion already given to Ukraine.
