Democrat mayor of College Park, Maryland, Patrick Wojahn was arrested on 56 child pornography charges. The night before he was taken into custody, Wojahn resigned as mayor where he had served since 2015 and had sat on the city council eight years prior to that. A social media account operating in the Prince George County area that had allegedly possessed and distributed child pornography was identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This account was traced to Wojahn on February 28 prompting a police search of his home where multiple devices were recovered. He was arrested two days later and charged with forty counts of possession of child exploitative material and sixteen counts of distribution of child exploitative material.
