French Worker Protests Continue

Hundreds of thousands of French demonstrators took part in the latest round of protests and strikes against the Macron government’s proposed change to the French pension system which would raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.  Garbage collectors, utility workers, train workers and others took to the streets in many cities all around France.  Flights were canceled, trains sat idle, oil deliveries stopped and other daily routines were disrupted because of the strikes. One protestor said, “We are convinced that the government will step back only if we block the economy.  The subject behind this is inflation, soaring food and energy prices. I just want to live decently from my work.”
