North Korea Launches Short Range Missile As South Korea, U.S. Prep For Joint Exercise

Objectivity 4.8 | Credibility 4.8 | Relevance 4.7

North Korea has launched a short-range missile towards its western coast as South Korea and the United States prepare to hold the largest joint military exercises in years.  The launch also comes after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister warned that her country is ready to take “quick, overwhelming action” against the United States and South Korea.  North Korea has increased the number of missile tests in the last year and experts say that Kim is seeking to establish a position of strength for economic negotiations.  North Korea’s aggressive stance is causing South Korea and Japan to work through long-standing grievances stemming from Japanese actions during World War II.
