Israeli jets struck within Syria for a second consecutive day, and an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officer, Milad Heydari, was killed early Friday according to Tasmin news agency. IRGC vowed vengeance against Israel for the slain officer. Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that Syrian air defenses shot down “hostile missiles” even though there was some apparent damage caused by the strikes. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the strike targeted a munitions depot for Syrian and Iranian forces just south of Damascus. The IDF doesn’t usually comment on specific operations but acknowledges that it does carry out operations against Iranian groups within Syria.
