House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Mike McCaul (R-TX), House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) and their Senate counterparts are demanding answers from the Pentagon concerning the apparent leak of documents outlining U.S. intelligence and plans concerning the war in Ukraine. McCaul said, “I urge the administration to investigate and move swiftly to identify the leaker and take appropriate action. The administration must also brief Congress on the security implications of this leak.” Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Chris Meagher emphasized the potential risk for the spread of misinformation and that some of the leaked documents appear to have been altered. Meagher also said that U.S. allies have been contacted “to reassure them of our commitment to safeguarding intelligence and fidelity to our security partnerships.”
